Carolina Herrera

Known for her a amazingly smart personal style. The story of her introduction to the fashion world begins with her grandmother, who was a socialite, who brought her along to fashion shows when she was young and they sat in the front row of show such as Balenciaga. Her grandmother bought her outfits from Lanvin and Dior, firing her flame for fashion and her love of those classy elegant designs that she now creates.

"My eye was accustomed to see pretty things" all done with the help of her grandmother.

Hanging out with the likes of Mick and Bianca Jagger and the famous artist Andy Warhol and his studio 54 gang. She became known for her impeccable style. She was elected into the International Best Dressed Hall of Fame in 1980 and in that same year, from the suggestions of her friends she created her first clothing line and with the help of a boutique in a high class area of New York, she became know in the fashion world as a designer. Her first runway show in 1980 included future supermodel Iman.

In 2008 she was awarded the Lifetime Achievement Award from the Council of Fashion Designers of America. Herrera may be around a while but her role in fashion is very much alive and is bound to be here for years to come.

Her designs are worn by many and loved by even more.
